Before you start a print you are advised to carry out a nozzle check to make sure that none of the gates are blocked, if the results are not perfect you will have to carry out a clean, before doing so please ensure that you have not run out of ink, a lot of tech support calls that we receive which the customer is sure a blocked head is the culprit turn out to be nothing more than the customer as run out of ink.
A maximum of 3 nozzle checks and cleans should be carried out since this process uses a lot of ink, it also causes ink to build up on the underside of the printer head, this excess ink then dries making matters worse.
When a new cartridge is installed you are advised to carry out a couple of cleaning cycles to purge any air that may be present inside the cartridge. If none of the above as worked please see the page on Printer Banding - Clogged Printer Heads which details some alternitive methods of removing dried ink form the printer head.
