Lyson inks give the photographer a much wider color gamut to reproduce their prints with when compared to the standard inks that come supplied with the printer. This is why it is very important to use a color profile with your inks, the profile instructs the printer how to use the extra colors that it now has at its disposal.
Lyson do offer in many cases a free generic profile that can be downloaded and used for free, this may leave you wondering if you can download a profile for free why would you need a custom one creating which of course costs money, let me explain, desktop printers are produced to a tolerance and it is often the case that two of the same model of printer, printing the same image, using the same inkset and paper produce entirely different prints, a custom profile corrects this and leaves you to create fantastic prints utilising the entire range of colors with nice smooth color graduations that maintain a high degree of detail in the shadows, highlights and midtones.
